Israeli Couple Experiences Wildlife Cinema and Proposal in Tanzania
An Israeli couple celebrating their seventh anniversary in Tanzania enjoyed an open-air screening of The Lion King surrounded by giraffes at a luxury resort, followed by a beach proposal in Zanzibar.

A young Israeli couple experienced a unique wildlife encounter during their two-week vacation in Tanzania, culminating in a romantic beach proposal in Zanzibar.
Yarin Yardeni, a 25-year-old entrepreneur and marketing professional from Herzliya, and her partner Elad Sasson traveled to Tanzania to celebrate their seventh anniversary. After frequently visiting Europe and the United States, the couple decided to seek a different kind of adventure after discovering African destinations on social media.
The Open-Air Screening Among Giraffes
One of the most striking highlights of the trip was their stay at the Serval Wildlife luxury resort in the Siha District of the Kilimanjaro region. Yardeni had previously seen a video online of an open-air screening of The Lion King at the resort but initially struggled to understand how to access it. Upon arrival, they discovered the movie screening was a complimentary attraction provided directly by the resort for all guests.
Before the screening, guests gathered for afternoon tea surrounded by roaming wildlife. During the film, giraffes approached the viewing area and wandered freely near the audience. Yardeni noted that the experience felt surreal, comparing it to being inside a movie. Throughout their stay, guests were accompanied by guides when leaving their rooms due to safety protocols around the animals.
Proposal in Zanzibar and Travel Tips
After exploring the Kilimanjaro area, Ngorongoro, and the Serengeti, the couple concluded their journey on the beaches of Zanzibar, where Sasson surprised Yardeni with a marriage proposal. According to Yardeni, the two-week trip cost approximately 30,000 shekels for the couple.
Reflecting on the journey, Yardeni advised future travelers to consider booking directly through local providers and shared a practical tip for photography enthusiasts: bringing a portable power bank and ample storage space, as the destination offers endless photo opportunities that quickly drain phone batteries.
