Joy After Tragedy: Channel 14 Presenter Tamir Shneid Welcomes Baby Girl
Channel 14 presenter Tamir Shneid and his wife Shira welcomed a baby girl, nine months after the tragic loss of their four-month-old daughter Emmanuel to SIDS in December 2025.

A heartwarming and emotional event has taken place in the family of Channel 14 correspondent and presenter Tamir Shneid. Approximately nine months after a profound tragedy struck him and his wife Shira, the couple welcomed a baby girl on Sunday. In December 2025, their eldest daughter, Emmanuel, passed away suddenly at just four months old due to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).
Reacting to the birth of his daughter, Shneid shared a brief message of gratitude:
"Thank God."
Coping with Loss and Choosing Life
The birth follows months of coping with immense grief. Throughout this period, Shneid publicly shared his pain and longing for Emmanuel, while consistently emphasizing his and his wife's decision to move forward, maintain their faith, and rebuild their family.
Just last month, the couple marked a painful milestone—the day Emmanuel would have celebrated her first birthday. Shneid posted a poignant message on his Instagram account, reflecting on the reality they had hoped for versus the one they had to face:
"Today our Emmanuel was supposed to celebrate her first birthday. Instead of blowing out the first candle on a cake, we stand before her memory. And it breaks our hearts. She will forever remain our eldest daughter, who was four months old."
He went on to describe the enduring emotions that have accompanied them since her passing:
"A pain that does not fade. A longing that does not weaken. A void that no one can fill. Yet, within all of this, we thank God for what we have. For the strength He gives us every single day to keep living, to believe in life, and to carry what sometimes seems impossible. Our Emmanuel, we love you and miss you."
Finding Light in the Darkness
The tragedy occurred in December 2025. Following the sudden loss of Emmanuel, Shneid chose to speak openly about his grief. Alongside the heartbreak, he described the conscious decision he and Shira made to look ahead and build a strong, joyful family while honoring their late daughter's memory.
"Your world collapses, but it was important for me to come here and tell the entire nation of Israel that we chose life," Shneid said shortly after her passing.
Referring to the timing of the tragedy, which occurred around the holiday of Hanukkah, he used the metaphor of the holiday candles to convey his message:
"Anyone who has a Hanukkah menorah lit should choose life. No matter how much they try to extinguish our menorah, we are here to stay."
Now, nine months after their devastating loss, the birth of their new daughter brings immense joy to the Shneid family. While celebrating this new chapter, Tamir Shneid's recent words make it clear that Emmanuel will always hold a sacred place in their hearts as their firstborn.
