Israeli medical aesthetics company Sofwave has secured regulatory approval from China's National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) to market and sell its flagship wrinkle-reduction, skin-rejuvenation, and firming device in the country. The approval marks the first and crucial step toward commercialization in the world's second-most populous nation, home to approximately 1.4 billion people.

Strategic Partnership and Market Potential

To facilitate its entry into the Chinese market, Sofwave partnered with HTDK in 2022 to serve as its exclusive distributor in China for a three-year term starting upon regulatory clearance. The company's system is approved for improving facial wrinkles in the mid-to-lower face for individuals aged 22 and older. According to company estimates, the non-invasive and minimally invasive procedures market in China was valued at approximately $21 billion in 2023, making it a key strategic target.

"Sofwave's flaghip technology utilizes advanced ultrasound waves to rejuvenate facial and neck skin, lift eyebrows, and smooth fine lines without surgical intervention."

Financial Growth and Global Expansion

Founded in 2015 in Yokneam by Dr. Shimon Eckhouse, who serves as chairman and holds a 23.5% stake, Sofwave reported record revenues of $30 million for the second quarter of 2026, alongside a 67% jump in net profit to $2.5 million. This marks the fifth consecutive quarter of positive net income for the company. North America remains its primary market, accounting for 54% of 2025 revenues ($47 million out of $88 million total), while East Asia represents its second-largest regional hub with $28.5 million in sales.
