Singapore Airlines Unveils $2 Billion Cabin Upgrade with Sky Double Beds
Singapore Airlines has unveiled a $2 billion SGD cabin upgrade featuring double beds in first class and Starlink satellite internet across its fleet, targeting affluent travelers in a competitive luxury aviation market.

Singapore Airlines has announced a sweeping $2 billion SGD cabin upgrade program, featuring what it describes as the largest double bed in the sky to capture soaring demand from wealthy travelers. The ambitious project, equivalent to £1.2 billion, will introduce premium first-class suites equipped with a double bed measuring 203 cm in length and 152 cm in width, surpassing standard UK double bed dimensions.
Unprecedented Luxury in the Skies
The new first-class suites will offer passengers exceptional comfort, complete with premium mattress covers from German luxury bedding brand Paradies, plush duvets, and a selection of pillows. Selected business class seats will also feature conversion capabilities into double beds, accompanied by curved sliding doors for enhanced privacy and 4K touchscreen monitors.
Singapore Airlines is intensifying its competition for high-end flyers against global carriers such as Emirates, Air France, and British Airways, all of which have invested heavily in luxury cabins. Despite being ranked the world's best airline this year by Skytrax, the carrier aims to reclaim market share in the ultra-luxury segment.
Network Expansion and Fleet Enhancements
Set to launch in the second half of 2027, the upgrade program extends beyond premium cabins to economy passengers, who will benefit from increased legroom and improved personal storage options. All travelers will enjoy enhanced in-flight entertainment systems and expanded dining menus.
Furthermore, the airline confirmed the installation of seamless high-speed satellite internet powered by Elon Musk's Starlink service, ensuring continuous connectivity across all aircraft during flights.
