The relevant batch number, 89203N201, can be found at the bottom of the bottle and has been frozen pending a comprehensive investigation.
The dramatic decision was taken purely as a precautionary measure following a single, isolated complaint received on Saturday evening. The ministry clarified that no reports have been received regarding any adverse medical conditions among infants who consumed the product.
Following the directive, Abbott, the manufacturer of Similac, acted immediately to supply alternative, safe batches to hospitals nationwide to prevent shortages. The Ministry of Health reiterated that the instruction applies solely to this specific batch, and there are no restrictions or safety concerns regarding other Similac batches available on the market.
