MK Simcha Rothman Accuses: "There Were Savages in Yesh Atid and Labor"

MK Simcha Rothman (Religious Zionism), chairman of the Constitution, Law and Justice Committee, was one of the most recognizable figures associated with the judicial reform and this coalition. In an interview on 103fm radio with Aryeh Eldad and Ron Kofman, he summarized the term, prepared for the upcoming elections, and addressed the demonstration by left-wing activists today (Wednesday) in front of the 'Religious Zionism' headquarters in Shoham, as well as the decision by Judge Alex Stein to stop the transfer of funds by the coalition's order.

MK Rothman, known for the stormy meetings he conducted in the Constitution Committee, was asked if he fears that in the next term there will be people who will want to hold him accountable. To this he replied: "There were people who took revenge on me even before I was chairman. I hold a very dubious title: I was the only MK who was hit by the Knesset Speaker in the Knesset's Parsha Hall in the previous term. It was filmed and documented. They were just savages in 'Yesh Atid' and in the 'Labor' party. They didn't wait for me to do anything to behave in a wild way."

Regarding the incident at the 'Religious Zionism' headquarters in Shoham today, he said: "There is an effective right-wing party in Israel, 'Religious Zionism', and right-wing parties that behave and respect the laws and procedures, also in the Knesset. And there are violent people, thugs, silencers of voices who, unfortunately, are found in the Israeli left."

He continued: "The deafening silence from the heads of the opposition parties, people who claim to establish a unity government and criticize the style in which we acted — I don't hear a word from them. Could it be that it passed quietly for them, these 'brown shirts' who come to riot and disturb a democratic party that wants to run in the elections?"

"Judge Alex Stein is apparently on the side of the 'more equal'"

He later discussed Supreme Court Judge Alex Stein's decision regarding the transfer of funds that the coalition acted to transfer and attacked: "A High Court judge with a legal statement that has no basis whatsoever. The ease with which a judge decides to stop funds. When they transferred billions a week before the elections in the previous Knesset, it was, as Yair Lapid said, for 'good purposes'. Judge Alex Stein is apparently on the side of the 'more equal'."

"This decision is not reasoned, it is a temporary order and it will be canceled. These funds will be transferred. It is about arrogance and irresponsibility on the part of the court; the procedure was completely proper. Judge Stein apparently does not know the procedure in the Knesset, but it really does not matter," he claimed.

High Court: "The anarchy that exists is 100% their fault"

MK Rothman also sought to reassure those claiming that this Knesset has finished its work: "This Knesset has not been dissolved. This Knesset is finishing its term on time; now it is an election recess that the Knesset decided on. According to the law, it is possible to convene a committee."

He continued to criticize Judge Stein's decision, claiming it reflects the conduct of the High Court throughout the government's term: "Those who set an example in the State of Israel of criminality and law-breaking are the High Court judges who announced that the law does not bind them. The anarchy that has existed since January '24 is 100% their fault. When you come to appoint judges and they say in advance 'we have a veto', and they filter you to appoint only a 'half-conservative', you get judges who flip and immediately join the activist camp."

Regarding the elections, he noted: "I very much hope that in the next Knesset we will establish a right-wing coalition. Since I am a democrat, unlike the Israeli 'fascist' government and its metastases who already say in advance that they do not recognize the will of the voter, if the people choose otherwise, I will accept the voter's verdict."
