Palestinian media reported that radical settlers burned a house belonging to a Palestinian family in the Nablus area. The torched structure belongs to the Tubasi family, which was displaced from its home in the village of Jalud in July following months of systematic harassment by extremist settlers.
The arson occurred after the IDF attempted to assist the family in returning to their home. The army's escort triggered calls across extremist youth group networks to block the family's homecoming and vandalize the property.
Months of Harassment and Displacement
Mahmoud Tubasi, the head of the family, recounted the ordeal to the press, stating that they had endured nearly three months of siege before being forced out. Harassment began in April, targeting two adjacent homes built by the family.
"We were left without water, without flour, without rice. We understood that it was hopeless and we left," Mahmoud said.
Extremists threw stones day and night, played blaring music, and explicitly threatened the family, comparing their actions to the lethal Duma arson attack against the Dawabsheh family. Despite filing complaints with the IDF Civil Administration and the Israel Police, the family reported total inaction.
Response from Security Forces
The IDF stated that the allegations are under review and emphasized that military forces operate in the Jalud and Qusra areas within the Samaria Brigade sector to prevent lawlessness and maintain public order.
