Seven suspects in the murder of Eldar Dayan: awaiting a report that may decide the case
The fifth suspect who was on the run has been captured and his detention extended. Omri Peretz and Maxim Barberman, friends of Dayan suspected of his murder, deny the allegations and claim he died following a brawl with five other men. At the Magistrate's Court in Petah Tikva, the detention of the fifth suspect, allegedly involved in the brawl that preceded the death of Eldar Dayan, was extended this morning, Wednesday.
The suspect had been on the run and was captured by police yesterday. His detention was extended by consent until tomorrow, similar to the extension granted yesterday for his four associates. The five are suspected of attacking Dayan and causing the brain hemorrhage that led to his death.
In parallel, Omri Peretz and Maxim Barberman, friends of Dayan suspected of his murder, are also being brought to court this morning. The two were arrested about three weeks ago following Dayan's disappearance, and were later named as suspects in the murder after his body was discovered. They deny the allegations, claiming that Dayan sustained a head injury during a brawl with the five young men, and that this injury caused the fatal brain hemorrhage.
Police investigators are still awaiting the report from the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Abu Kabir, which will determine with certainty the cause of Dayan's death.
