Hamas Leader and Sheikh Linked to Terror Indictment Speak at Online Event
Sheikh Ekrima Sabri and Hamas leader Khaled Mashal participated in an online conference calling for the renewal of anti-Israel attacks, drawing severe warnings from security analysts.
Sheikh Ekrima Sabri, currently facing trial for incitement and support for terrorism, participated in an online conference titled "Supporting Al-Aqsa Against Aggression" on Saturday. The event also featured Khaled Mashal, a senior Hamas leader abroad, alongside other representatives affiliated with Hamas and Hezbollah.
Statements and Incitement
During the conference, Mashal stated that "we are still in the shadow of the Deluge. We acted for it in a major way, and we want to renew it for the sake of Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa." He added, "The oil we send to light the lamps of Al-Aqsa includes money, charity, reconstruction, popular activity—and it also includes blood."
Sabri's ongoing criminal indictment states that he "published words of praise, sympathy, encouragement, support, or identification with acts of terrorism." Charges specifically cite his condolences to terrorist families, where he declared them to be in paradise.
Security Response
"Israel must not treat Khaled Mashal's severe statements as just another political declaration. When a Hamas leader talks about renewing the 'Deluge' and brings blood into the discourse, it demands a firm response from security and law enforcement," said Maor Tzemach, chairman of the Lach Yerushalayim organization.
Tzemach emphasized that the collaboration between Sabri and figures like Mashal creates a dangerous nexus that threatens to escalate tensions surrounding Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa.
