Meeting between CENTCOM commander and senior IDF officials: "An attack will change Iran's position"
CENTCOM commander Admiral Brad Cooper, visiting Israel, pushed for renewed strikes on Iranian infrastructure. He argued that such actions are necessary to force a shift in Tehran's current stance.
Despite the American demand from last week to close all fronts, during his visit to Israel, the commander of the United States Central Command, Admiral Brad Cooper, pushed for the renewal of attacks on Iran, as reported this Thursday evening.
Cooper visited Israel last week and participated in a meeting of the senior operational forum of the army, alongside Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir and all IDF generals. The message he conveyed was that fighting against Iran must be renewed, specifically targeting national infrastructure, including gas, oil, and electricity industry sites.
"Attacking infrastructure in Iran will change the rules of the game, will hurt the Iranians very much, and in the current situation, they will not change their positions," Cooper stated.
Cooper raised these points before his commander, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Kane, and this position was reflected to President Donald Trump. Cooper also informed senior IDF officials that it is highly likely there will be no choice but to renew fighting, and that Israel's participation in joint strikes would be required. Recently, CENTCOM announced the establishment of a drone strike force in cooperation with several Middle Eastern nations.
Yesterday, a senior Iranian official told Reuters that there are no discussions regarding a ceasefire extension with the USA, claiming the agreement was violated by the Americans shortly after it was reached.
The spokesperson for the Pakistani Foreign Ministry responded by stating that the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding remains a signed agreement. Although the 60-day deadline expires in five days, Pakistan hopes that once parties return to dialogue, the agreement can be extended.
