Shipping and Nuclear Negotiations
Earlier, it was reported that Iran and Oman will receive 60 days to formulate a mechanism for operating shipping lanes in the Strait of Hormuz. In parallel, nuclear talks between the USA and Iran are expected to resume.
According to The New York Times, the discussions concern Iran's stockpile of approximately 11 tons of enriched uranium, including about 500 kilograms enriched to a level near that required for nuclear weapons production.
"Vessels will pay a service fee, not a toll," Iranian sources claimed.
However, an American official rejected this assertion, stating that no Iranian approval would be required and no payments would be collected.
US officials remain skeptical that a formal nuclear agreement will be reached. It is estimated that President Donald Trump may declare the issue resolved, claiming that the uranium stockpile is buried under the rubble of facilities attacked during Operation "Am Kelavi" last June.
