Two women from Rishon LeZion were admitted to the emergency department at Shamir Medical Center (Assaf Harofeh) on Sunday evening suffering from shortness of breath. Hospital officials reported that one woman is in her 30s and the other is in her 80s, and both are currently receiving medical treatment from emergency staff.

Their hospital arrival comes amid numerous reports from Rishon LeZion residents regarding a strong gas odor, primarily in the western part of the city. Following these complaints, firefighters from the Rishon LeZion station are conducting sweeps and monitoring the area in cooperation with gas companies to locate the source of the smell and rule out any danger.

Mayor Raz Kinstlich stated on social media that the municipality has received numerous reports through the municipal hotline and directly to him. He noted that firefighting teams are thoroughly scanning the city alongside rescue and inspection personnel.

Kinstlich emphasized that according to the Fire and Rescue Authority, there is currently no evidence of a hazardous materials incident, and therefore no special instructions have been issued to the public. However, he directed authorities to continue investigating the source of the odor, even if it originates outside the city limits.

The mayor also urged residents to refrain from spreading unverified rumors in messaging groups and to rely exclusively on official updates from the municipality, fire services, and police. The Fire and Rescue Authority advised residents to remain vigilant and to contact the emergency hotline at 102 in case of any ongoing concerns or persistent strong odors.
