Rina Matzliach on her vow: 'I don't know if I will be able to keep it'
The journalist and Hapoel Be'er Sheva fan spoke about the experience at the away game in Europe, shared a conversation with Alona Barkat, about the vow she will find hard to keep, and also addressed the farewell to Kings Kangwa.
Journalist Rina Matzliach, who in the past caused a stir following her statements against the ultra-Orthodox sector, returned to the headlines this time for a completely different reason. The Hapoel Be'er Sheva fan was a guest on the ONE program 'Sichat HaYom', after accompanying the team to the away match against Vikingur, which ended in a 0:2 victory and secured advancement to the third qualifying round of the Champions League.
Matzliach said that this was the first time she had traveled to an away match for Hapoel Be'er Sheva in a European framework, and even revealed a conversation she had with the club's owner, Alona Barkat. When asked if she was the one who brought the luck, she replied with a smile:
'Now Alona told me that I need to come to every game. Before that, I vowed that if we advanced I would come to every game, but now I don't know if I will be able to keep it.'
Regarding her feelings during the match, she said: 'It was a really good experience, but before the match there was abnormal pressure and alertness. There was a lot of tension until the first goal. At the second goal we rejoiced, at the penalty we died and then we were resurrected.'
Matzliach also addressed the departure of Kings Kangwa from the club and admitted that it was not an easy farewell. 'He is a player who is very connected to the team. He is a happy player, it is easy to fall in love with him and his football is happy. It was a difficult farewell, the crowd cheered for him and I saw his tears when saying goodbye to the players. These farewells are inevitable, and I believe that new stars will arrive.'
When asked if Hapoel Be'er Sheva is capable of qualifying for the Champions League this season, she preferred to remain cautious: 'We don't like to talk. We know what we want for the team and we want it to go far. Everyone is doing everything for this.'
In conclusion, she was asked if she would answer the 'Tzav 8' (emergency call-up) she received, according to her, from Alona Barkat and join the next match against Red Star Belgrade. Matzliach replied briefly: 'Maybe I will travel to Belgrade.'
