Reunited with Ziv Arie: Marko Rakonjac joins Maccabi Petah Tikva

Following two losses in the Toto Cup and an injury to Adar Ratner, who is set for surgery and expected to be sidelined for two and a half months, Maccabi Petah Tikva announced on Friday the signing of Marko Rakonjac. The 26-year-old Montenegrin striker, who scored two goals in 14 appearances for Hapoel Jerusalem since January, has arrived in Israel to reunite with coach Ziv Arie. He will sign a one-season contract with an option for an additional year, subject to passing medical examinations.

On Sunday, Rakonjac will be able to attend the stadium in Rehovot to watch his new team play away in the Toto Cup against his former club, Hapoel Jerusalem. He could make his debut in the final round of the competition, in the home match against Hapoel Ramat Gan.

Rakonjac is the fourth foreign player to join Maccabi Petah Tikva since their promotion to the top flight. He was preceded by Kyle Spence, Pavlos Correa, and Ibrahima Sory Soumah. Samuel Owusu and Jose Cortes, who played for the team in the National League, have remained for another season.
