Staying Yellow: Iffe Lundberg signs three-year extension with Maccabi Tel Aviv
Maccabi Tel Aviv has officially announced a three-year contract extension for 31-year-old Danish guard Iffe Lundberg. The playoff finals MVP will remain with the team through the 2026/27 season.
Maccabi Tel Aviv delivered one of the most significant pieces of news for its fans this morning (Monday) ahead of the 2026/27 season. The club officially announced the extension of Gabriel "Iffe" Lundberg's contract for three additional years. The 31-year-old Danish guard (1.93 m), who provided an outstanding half-season at Yad Eliyahu and captured the MVP title of the playoff final series, will continue to lead Oded Kattash's backcourt in the fight for titles in Israel and Europe.
Retaining Lundberg comes with a salary of 2 million dollars per season, and from a professional standpoint, it is one of the central pieces of the puzzle being built this summer at Yad Eliyahu. After the "yellows" already completed the resounding transfer of Yam Madar from Hapoel Tel Aviv and brought back Bonzie Colson from Fenerbahce, Lundberg's new contract guarantees Kattash a powerful, experienced, and particularly tough backcourt. Lundberg, who was a decisive factor in winning the local double, was marked from the start as an asset the club could not afford to lose.

Lundberg displayed exceptional consistency throughout the past season despite the injuries he suffered. In the EuroLeague, he averaged 11 points and 3.6 assists per game, but his peak moment came in the money-time of the Winner Sal League. In the final series against the "reds," he soared to impressive averages of 17.5 points and 4 assists per evening, demonstrating quiet leadership and composure in decisive moments. The Dane's connection to the organization, the fans, and life in Israel made the negotiations successful.
