Strengthening the backcourt: Eugene German signed with Hapoel Tel Aviv
The 28-year-old American guard joined the Reds on a one-season contract. Last season he played in China and Puerto Rico: "I will give everything on the court. Let's win a championship together."
Hapoel Tel Aviv announced this evening (Saturday) the signing of American guard Eugene German to a one-season contract, through the end of the 2026/27 season. The 28-year-old player (1.83 meters) will strengthen Dimitris Itoudis' backcourt and receive his first career opportunity in the EuroLeague.
German began last season with the Beijing Ducks of the Chinese league, where he averaged 18.3 points, 4.8 assists, and 3.1 rebounds per game, alongside 40.1 percent shooting from beyond the arc. After the end of the season in China, he moved to Indios de Mayagüez of Puerto Rico and recorded 17.4 points, 4.5 assists, and 3.5 rebounds on average in eight appearances. He began his professional career with Ionikos in Greece, continued to Merkezefendi in Turkey, and later played in China for the Qingdao Eagles, Fujian Sturgeons, and Beijing. Previously, he spent four seasons at Northern Illinois University, which he finished as the all-time leading scorer with 2,312 points.

Coach Dimitris Itoudis added: "Eugene knows how to produce points in several ways. He is aware of the leap he is making now in his career and is full of motivation to improve together with our excellent squad."
Sporting director Georgios Chinas said: "This is a proven scorer, a true competitor, and an aggressive ball-handler who knows how to create an advantage. He will bring an additional dimension to our game."
