Israeli players continue to shine in MLS. Dor Turgeman scored for New England amidst antisemitic chants from the crowd, while Tai Baribo netted his 11th goal of the season for DC United, marking his fourth consecutive game with a goal.
The strong form of Israelis in MLS continued tonight (between Saturday and Sunday), as Tai Baribo and Dor Turgeman found the net once again. Turgeman experienced a stormy match: the Israel national team striker was subjected to antisemitic chants during the meeting against Montreal. Despite the hostility, he managed to celebrate his second goal in a row, finishing a cross from Peyton Miller from close range in the 36th minute to put New England up 2:0.
After the goal, he silenced the crowd that had been booing him and, according to reports, chanting "Death to Israel." In response, the opposing goalkeeper confronted him, pushed him, and received a yellow card, while some fans threw beer at him.
Ultimately, the match ended in a 2:2 draw, but the Revolution remain third in the East with 30 points. The Israeli striker was substituted in the 73rd minute, while the injured Ilay Feingold did not participate.
Baribo helped DC United come back from a 2:0 deficit to 2:2 against Nashville SC, with a successful finish in the 77th minute following a brilliant assist from Luis Montano, celebrating a goal in his fourth consecutive match.
Baribo, who played the full 90 minutes, now has 11 goals in 16 matches—one less than Lionel Messi—placing him fifth in the US top scorers table. His DC United side is ranked ninth in the East after 18 rounds with 23 points.
In contrast, Liel Abada (substituted in the 77th minute) and Idan Toklomati (substituted in the 86th minute) failed to find the net for Charlotte, which lost 2:1 to Chicago. Toklomati provided an assist for his team's only goal, and they currently sit seventh in the East with 25 points.
