Report: Nottingham Forest submitted an offer for Anan Khalaili – which was rejected
The Israel national team player, whose transfer to Inter fell through about two weeks ago, is attracting interest from the Premier League club. Nottingham Forest offered 20 million euros for him, but Union Saint-Gilloise refused.
Two weeks after his transfer deal to Inter was cancelled, Anan Khalaili continues to attract interest in Europe's top leagues. According to a report by 'The Athletic', Nottingham Forest submitted an offer to Union Saint-Gilloise for the winger and right-back, but it was rejected by the Belgian club.
According to the report, Forest's offer stood at a total value of 20 million euros – 17.5 million euros as a guaranteed transfer fee, an additional 2.5 million euros in bonuses based on appearances and achievements, as well as a percentage of a future sale. However, the offer is far from the amount that Saint-Gilloise agreed upon with Inter earlier this month – about 28 million euros – and therefore the Belgians are expected to insist on a similar price tag.
In an analysis attached to the report, it was written that the new Nottingham Forest manager, Oliver Glasner, is looking for wing players with a high work rate, tactical discipline, and the ability to contribute on both sides of the pitch. Khalaili fits this profile well due to his versatility, ability to play in several roles, and attacking tendency alongside defensive commitment. It was further noted that Forest sees the 21-year-old Khalaili as a player who has not yet reached his full potential and could develop significantly in the Premier League. If the deal goes through, he is expected to add depth and competition to the wing-back position in Glasner's system.
Khalaili was on his way to Inter in mid-July, but the deal collapsed at the last moment after he did not receive medical clearance. The player, who has recorded 16 appearances for the Israel national team, also attracts interest from Bournemouth and Newcastle. Khalaili joined Royal Union Saint-Gilloise in the summer of 2024 from Maccabi Haifa for 6.5 million euros. In his first season, he was a partner in the historic Belgian championship win, the club's first in 90 years, and in the following season, he participated with the team in the Champions League, where he scored three goals in eight appearances. Khalaili has a contract until the summer of 2028, so the Belgian club is under no pressure to sell him this summer.
