This mainly concerns ATACMS surface-to-surface missiles with a range of 160 kilometers, and newer precision missiles of the PrSM type with a range of about 500 kilometers. The US has also depleted about half of its Tomahawk missile inventory. On the other hand, another source noted that the US Central Command (CENTCOM) managed to replenish part of the inventory by transferring munitions from other bases around the world.
Furthermore, a report by the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) published last week indicates that between February and July, about 65% of Patriot interceptors were used, and the inventory of THAAD ballistic missile interceptors decreased by at least 38%.
The White House stated on behalf of President Donald Trump that the US has "far more munitions than any other country in the world, and far more than we need." It was further stated that, "our defense companies are currently producing munitions in quantities we have never seen before."
Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell stated: "The American military is the strongest in the world and has everything it needs to carry out any order from the President."
