Report: Technocratic committee to visit Gaza soon for a "field tour"
This is according to a publication by the "Asharq" channel. The purpose of the trip is to assess the situation and discuss preparations for the deployment of international stabilization forces. Meanwhile, discussions are underway regarding temporary housing for hundreds of thousands of Gazans.
The Arab channel "Asharq" reported that mediators from Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey will hold a meeting in the coming days with American officials in Cairo.
According to the reports, the meeting will discuss the implementation mechanisms of the Gaza agreement and the setting of timetables. It was also reported that the Palestinian technocratic committee is preparing for a visit to Gaza in the near future, accompanied by Peace Council representative Nickolay Mladenov. The purpose of the trip is to assess the situation and discuss preparations for the deployment of international stabilization forces.
A member of the technocratic committee said that the committee chairman, Ali Shaath, and several members will arrive with Mladenov in Gaza soon to check the preparations for their activities and the deployment of the stabilization forces. He did not provide a date for the visit. Following this, it was reported that the technocratic committee held discussions on a plan for temporary housing for hundreds of thousands of displaced persons in Gaza. The discussions dealt with financial costs, identifying sites for establishing temporary housing complexes, waste disposal mechanisms, and setting priorities.
The report noted estimates by Palestinian sources, UN organizations, the European Union, and the World Bank regarding the cost of reconstruction. According to these estimates, the initial cost for reconstruction projects in the Gaza Strip is about 71.4 billion dollars over a decade.
Meanwhile, against the backdrop of reports about the restriction of IDF strikes, "Asharq" reported a reduction in the intensity and frequency of strikes in Gaza in recent days.
Hamas is not willing to hand over rifles and pistols
Senior Hamas officials told "Asharq" that Palestinian terrorist organizations confirmed to the mediators and the Peace Council their willingness to implement the agreement, move to the second phase, and begin negotiations on preparing the timetable within 14 days. A senior Hamas official said that the first step is conditional on Israel's agreement to the outline and the start of the agreement's implementation.
The second phase of the agreement deals with the issues of disarming terrorist organizations and managing Gaza. According to the report, talks were held in Cairo between Hamas, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, the Popular Front, the Democratic Front, the Resistance Committees, the Palestinian National Initiative, and associates of Mohammed Dahlan. These parties agreed on the collection, concentration, and storage of heavy weapons under the supervision of the Palestinian technocratic committee and in coordination with international stabilization forces without Israeli interference. It was further emphasized that within this framework, the possession of light weapons (rifles, pistols) would be "subject to Palestinian laws," meaning they would not be transferred for storage.
Senior Hamas officials emphasized that Israel must fulfill the requirements of the first phase in parallel with the steps of the second phase, primarily the cessation of strikes, withdrawal to the east of the yellow line, and the entry of additional supplies into the Strip. According to the officials, Hamas requested that the technocratic committee enter Gaza quickly and take responsibility for aid and reconstruction programs.
Furthermore, a senior Hamas official revealed that the organization's delegation, led by Zaher Jabarin, left Cairo on Thursday and flew to Istanbul for internal consultations. It was also stated that the organization is awaiting the positions of Israel and the Peace Council.
