Rami Levy and Israir take off to a favorite destination: daily flights for $1,400

The airline Israir, owned by businessman Rami Levy, reached a significant development milestone last week. Following a rigorous process of supervision and professional verification, the Israel Civil Aviation Authority granted the company the operational specifications required to fly Airbus A330 aircraft, which were purchased for approximately 85 million dollars (about 262 million shekels).

These aircraft are slated to operate a direct route from Tel Aviv to New York. On Tuesday, the Civil Aviation Authority officially granted all necessary permits for these flights. Currently, the company is awaiting technical licensing approval from the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

While the FAA has 90 days to respond under official regulations, senior aviation industry sources estimate that the long-awaited approval will arrive much sooner, ensuring the launch of the route in the near future. The complex licensing process required extensive preparation and a financial investment estimated at 1.5 million dollars.

The company is already preparing for the historic launch. The published flight schedule includes four weekly departures from Ben Gurion Airport to John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK).

Although a short trial period is expected, Israir anticipates that flight frequency will increase rapidly to a daily service. The flight is scheduled to depart from Israel every night at 00:30. At this stage, round-trip tickets are priced at approximately 1,400 dollars.

The introduction of the Airbus A330 into the Israir fleet marks a new era for the company and the Israeli aviation market, increasing competition in long-haul travel and offering passengers a high-quality local alternative.
