Raiten: "At the first cabinet meeting, we will decide on the establishment of a state commission of inquiry"

The chair of the Democrats faction, MK Efrat Raiten, presented at a public meeting in Mikhmoret the principles of a government that will be formed, according to her, after the elections. Raiten pledged that the government would establish a state commission of inquiry and work to repeal the law changing the composition of the Judicial Selection Committee.

"At the first meeting of the government of hope that will be established here, we will decide on the establishment of a state commission of inquiry, there is no doubt about it," Raiten said.

According to her, the government's first step will be the repeal of the law changing the composition of the Judicial Selection Committee, which passed in the current Knesset and whose entry into force was postponed to the next Knesset.

"The first law we must repeal is the change to the composition of the Judicial Selection Committee, which passed in this term and was postponed to the next Knesset. There is nothing to discuss, this law is flawed and bad, it will change the character of the Supreme Court, of all the courts, and will make it polarized, and that is a catastrophe for the State of Israel," she said.

Raiten added that after repealing the law, the government would work to appoint judges to the Supreme Court.

"Immediately after we repeal this law and restore the situation to its previous state, we will appoint judges to the Supreme Court, unlike Levin who did not appoint a single judge. In the next term, the total number of judges we will need to appoint to the Supreme Court will stand at ten. That is a lot," she said.
