Intense Gunfire Rocks Rahat as Police Arrest Suspects Amid Family Feud
Residents of Rahat reported continuous gunfire near schools overnight. Police arrested several suspects amid an ongoing feud, while visiting officials condemned the severe security failure.

Residents of the southern city of Rahat reported heavy and continuous gunfire across several neighborhoods from late Wednesday night until early Thursday morning. Video footage circulated from the city showed children walking to school against the backdrop of intense gunfire echoing nearby.
Following public complaints and the spread of videos online, the Israel Police announced the arrest of several suspects in connection with shooting incidents and violence involving feuding families. Large police forces raided residential compounds in neighborhoods 24, 25, and 27, conducting searches and taking suspects into custody.
Meanwhile, former police official and public figure Yoav Segalovitch, who attended an event in the city, noted that bursts of gunfire erupted near the venue during the gathering. He sharply criticized the government, stating that such lawlessness must not become routine and pointing to a severe failure in safeguarding personal security.
