The Shin Bet and the IDF revealed on Saturday that intelligence findings indicate the commander of the Rafah Brigade, Nael Abu Abid, who was eliminated in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday, was involved in holding Israeli hostages since October 7.

According to the security agencies, Abu Abid was also involved in holding the late Lt. Hadar Goldin captive by Hamas since 2014. During the Swords of Iron war, he kept several hostages, including Staff Sgt. Nimrod Cohen, in underground infrastructure in Rafah.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz confirmed the strike earlier this week. Officials stated that no terrorist is immune and operations will continue until all threats are removed.
