"When we receive a worthy offer for Roy Revivo, there will be no problem"
Maccabi Tel Aviv held a press conference with CEO Jack Angelidis, who addressed the defender's desire to leave: "There was no written offer. It is difficult to negotiate when there is no one to negotiate with. We are allowed to demand a worthy sum." After dropping from the Europa League qualifiers to the Conference League qualifiers, Maccabi Tel Aviv returns to domestic football tomorrow (Sunday, 20:00, Sport4) to face Maccabi Netanya in the Toto Cup. This morning, the title holders held a press conference featuring new sports director Stephen Vanen and CEO Jack Angelidis.
Jack Angelidis opened by clarifying the club's long-term vision:
"I wanted to clarify the club's ambitions—from the first day with Mitch Goldhar, they were to be the biggest club in Israel, to compete for every possible title, and to be as competitive as possible in Europe. These remain our core ambitions. Of course, there is huge disappointment regarding our elimination from the Europa League; we must learn from this, keep our heads up, and move forward. We have been working behind the scenes to make improvements, and I am confident we will find the right solutions."
Regarding Roy Revivo, Angelidis stated:
"We respect the family, Haim and Roy. Roy is an excellent player with a lot of unrealized potential, and he is under contract here. When we receive an offer that we feel is worthy, there will be no problem if we can agree on the terms. We have proven many times that when the right offers arrive, we are ready to sell. We don't develop players just to sell them, but to win titles. We are allowed to demand a worthy sum, and we are looking at the long-term future. It is difficult to negotiate when there is no one to negotiate with."
Sports director Stephen Vanen added:
"I started here two months ago, and from our first conversations, I understood that there is a strong foundation to work with. Mitch and I share the same ambitions and standards. We are working step-by-step and will not succumb to pressure. Pressure is normal at a big club, but we are acting correctly. We see the players' improvement daily. Yes, we need to strengthen, but it is impossible to replace an entire team. We brought in not only Sissokho but also Dan Glazer. After we add two more players, we will see; if someone leaves, we will replace him appropriately. Replacing 6-7 players in the lineup does not necessarily mean you are a better team."
