The independent media outlet Project Media has revealed the identity of Vladimir Putin's granddaughter, whose father shares a surname with the President of Ukraine.
According to the investigation, Katerina Tikhonova, considered the younger of the official daughters of Russian President Vladimir Putin, and ballet choreographer Igor Zelensky have an eight-year-old daughter named Elsa. The child was born in December 2017 and took her mother's surname.
Igor Zelensky has no known family relation to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, though the coincidence has sparked widespread amusement on social media, highlighting the secrecy surrounding the Russian president's family circle.
Flight records show the child left Russia shortly before her second birthday, traveling to Munich with her parents aboard a private jet operated by German airline Air Hamburg. Less than two years later, she traveled to Croatia, registered under the name Elsa Igorevna Tikhonova.
