Almost two years after his death: Liam Payne's partner is removing the tattoo she got in his memory
The model, who was the last partner of the One Direction star, uploaded a video of the removal of the tattoo she got in his memory and clarified that it is not a waiver of the tribute. "I will get it redone," she declared.
Kate Cassidy, Liam Payne's partner for the last two years of his life, revealed on Instagram that she is laser-removing the '444' tattoo she got in his memory on her palm, nearly two years after the death of the One Direction star. 27-year-old Cassidy uploaded a video from a tattoo removal studio, in which the number is seen being erased from her left palm. The model explained that this is not a farewell to the tribute itself, but a correction: according to her, she decided to remove several poorly done tattoos and clarified that she will eventually get them redone.
Before the treatment, she took a mirror selfie wearing protective goggles, and then also uploaded a video of the '444' being burned off by the laser. She got this tattoo, along with 'LP' on her wrist, in the months following Payne's death, because the number 444 was the 'angel number' for the two of them. This number appears again and again in Cassidy's posts about Payne. In the past, she shared a romantic note he wrote to her, asking her not to read it until later, in which he wrote about their desire to get engaged and married within a year: 'Me and Kate are going to get married within a year/engaged and together forever 444'.
The idea of angel numbers is based on a mystical concept that numbers have a spiritual meaning of guidance and positivity. Earlier this month, Cassidy burst into tears in an Instagram video while reading old love letters Payne wrote to her. She said she was sitting in the basement, surrounded by piles of letters in his handwriting, and admitted:
'Sometimes when I'm sad I read old letters Liam wrote to me, and it makes me even sadder. I almost feel like people don't write letters anymore, and I have a mountain of letters, journals, books, and all these things he left me'.
Cassidy also recently spoke about her difficulty returning to dating, and admitted on TikTok that she compares every potential partner to Payne. 'I just compare everyone to my late partner,' she said. 'For those who are new here, I lost my partner a year and a half ago, and he pretty much ticked every box on the list'. Despite everything, earlier this year Cassidy said she was ready to return to the dating world, 18 months after Payne's death, and that she knows he would have wanted her to move on. Last July, she even shared that a new partner dumped her via text message because she wouldn't stop comparing him to her late partner.
We recall that Payne died in October 2024 at the age of 31, after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and alcohol and cocaine were found in his system.
