Protests resumed: Maccabi Haifa fans chanted against Yaakov Shahar and Lior Refaelov
After Hapoel Haifa took a 3:0 lead in the derby during the Toto Cup, chants were heard in the northern stand against the club's owner and sporting director. The "Greens" players also faced harsh criticism.
Maccabi Haifa found itself trailing 3:0 in the derby against Hapoel Haifa in the Toto Cup as early as the 58th minute, and the crowd quickly lost patience. Whistles were heard immediately after the first goal by Yaad Gonen, and again after the young player completed his brace. Following the third goal by Alon Turgeman, some fans were seen leaving the stands.
In the northern stand, chants of "We don't want Shahar in Haifa" and "Lior, resign" were heard in protest against owner Yaakov Shahar and sporting director Lior Refaelov, alongside chants of "You have no honor" directed at the players.
The "Greens" looked very poor in their first official match of the season, with a lineup that included, among others, Noam Steifman, Goni Naor, Zohar Zasno, Iyad Khalaili, and Adam Greenberg.
