While Hadar Muchtar has been running a campaign in recent months with the goal of integrating into the Likud list for the Knesset, it was learned by Walla today (Sunday) that in parallel, Muchtar tried through quiet efforts to examine the possibility of joining the list of Otzma Yehudit chairman Itamar Ben Gvir.
Muchtar has starred in recent months in videos from protests and in efforts to stand out in the Likud primaries.
Over her candidacy, the question of the "waiting period" has hovered in recent months — the qualifying period required of a Likud member before they can run in the primaries.
Since Muchtar does not meet the required membership period, the possibility of running required a shortening of the period or an exceptional approval. In recent months, the possibility arose that Likud chairman Benjamin Netanyahu would allow her to run, among other things in the "new woman" slot, but the Prime Minister has no intention of approving the shortening for her.
Now it turns out that in parallel to these efforts, Muchtar did not put all her eggs in the Likud basket. It was learned by Walla that in the recent period she also tried to examine the possibility of integrating into the Otzma Yehudit list of Ben Gvir. The contacts were made quietly, while publicly Muchtar continues to position herself as part of Likud and as someone who intends to run for a place on its list.
The possibility of integrating Muchtar into the list also aroused internal opposition. As published in Walla, MK Tali Gottlieb came out against her publicly and claimed that she is not suitable for the Likud list, while mentioning the apartment scandal that accompanied Muchtar in the 2022 elections. Later, the future of the "new woman" slot, which was considered the most convenient route from Muchtar's perspective for a realistic spot, was also called into question within the framework of the discussions on the structure of the primaries.
