Dangerous pursuit on Highway 1: Suspects broke through roadblocks and struck police officers
Judea and Samaria District police officers arrested three suspects, including a minor, following a high-speed pursuit that began on Highway 1. The driver engaged in reckless driving, breached multiple roadblocks, and repeatedly struck patrol vehicles and officers.
Officers of the Judea and Samaria District Police arrested three suspects, including one minor and two adults, following a pursuit that began on Highway 1 near Mitzpe Yeriho. According to police reports, the vehicle performed dangerous overtakes and endangered other road users. The driver fled the scene by running red lights, breaking through roadblocks, and striking police vehicles, as well as a policewoman who subsequently required medical treatment.
Later, the vehicle was located in the Jericho area. Upon noticing the officers, the driver attempted to flee again at high speed, breaching roadblocks, ramming patrol cars, and attempting to run over a police officer. After determining that their lives were in danger, the officers opened fire on the vehicle, successfully bringing it to a stop.
During the arrest, two police officers sustained light injuries and were evacuated for medical care. One of the suspects, who was injured during the incident, was also taken for treatment. The suspects are residents of Luban ash-Sharqiya and Qabalan.
An initial investigation revealed that the driver had never obtained a driver's license. The investigation into the case is ongoing.
