For the fourth consecutive time: Armand Duplantis is the pole vault champion

After victories in 2018, 2022, and 2024, Armand Duplantis added a fourth European title to his career this evening (Sunday), after winning the European Pole Vault Championship held in Birmingham, England. The Swede cleared a height of 6.15 meters on his first attempt, broke the championship record, and finished ahead of the Greek Emmanouil Karalis, who cleared 6.00 meters, and the Frenchman Baptiste Thiery, who set a mark of 5.85 meters and won the bronze medal — his first in an international competition. Although Duplantis has gained a significant rival in recent months in the form of Karalis, who set a mark of 6.17 meters this year, the Swede proved once again why he is still the king of the pole vault. He first cleared 6.10 meters, and also cleared 6.15 meters on his first attempt, on his way to his fourth European title. Duplantis continues his dominance in major championships and has not lost in a significant competition since finishing in second place at the World Championships in Doha in 2019. Karalis, who won the silver medal, cleared 6.00 meters on his second attempt, but subsequently failed to clear 6.10, 6.15, and 6.20 meters. Duplantis, having already secured the gold, chose to skip the height of 6.20 meters.
