A new singer and songwriter named Libi is breaking industry conventions by releasing an EP where each track lasts only one minute. The global and local music industry has undergone significant upheavals in recent years, with social networks, led by TikTok, becoming the primary platforms for crowning new hits. Now, for the first time in Israel, a new initiative takes this trend a step further. Libi, a young artist who has been immersed in the world of music since the age of nine, is releasing "Sipur Asur EP" (Forbidden Story EP), a mini-album that effectively serves as Israel's first TikTok-native album.
The project was born out of the realization that the rules of the game have changed. Instead of releasing full-length songs and hoping for playlist placement, Libi and her team are debuting four tracks that are only one minute long.
The tracks are uploaded as sounds across various platforms, accompanied by stunning visual clips. This unique concept is designed to place the decision-making power in the hands of the audience. Listeners will determine, based on virality and the frequency of sound usage, which songs will receive an official full version in the future.
"When Ofir Malul presented us with the special idea of the TikTok EP, beyond the innovation he brought, I felt that he managed to capture my essence and offer something different that had not yet been seen in Israel," said Libi. "I saw what I most want to produce and receive from the world of music: closeness to the audience, a connection to people's hearts, and even their participation in my art. The album is very diverse and showcases different sides of my personal and musical persona."
After a decade of working behind the scenes without releasing a single official track, Libi is now launching a bold project. She is engaging directly with her online audience, inviting them to feel, react, and become an active part of the creative process for this elaborate project, developed alongside a team of top-tier creators and producers.
