Unusual rain for the season is expected to hit Israel today, Saturday, and continue until Sunday morning. From the afternoon hours, local rain is possible mainly in the north, and at night it is expected to spread to the center as well. Thunderstorms are possible, and there is a slight risk of local flooding along the northern and central coastal plain.

Today will be partly cloudy with a slight drop in temperatures in the mountains and inland. Strong winds will blow in most areas of the country, and haze is possible in the south. The Meteorological Service has defined the expected rain as "rare for the season and for the month of August."

Director of the Meteorological Service, Dr. Amir Givati, explained:

"The powerful rain system that was expected to bring large amounts of precipitation of tens of millimeters to Israel, mainly in the coastal plain and the Shephelah, will not arrive and will remain over the Mediterranean Sea. We will receive rains that are still unusual for August, but in smaller amounts than expected, which will not cause significant disruptions or flooding."

On Sunday morning, local rains are still possible from the north of the country to the northern Negev. There will be a further drop in temperatures, mainly in the mountains and inland, where they will be slightly lower than usual for the season. At the same time, a significant relief from the heat will be felt. During the afternoon, the rains are expected to stop.

On Monday morning, drizzle is possible along the coast. Temperatures will rise slightly but will remain slightly lower than usual for the season in the mountains and inland. On Tuesday, there will be a further rise in temperatures, which will be slightly higher than usual in most areas, and an increase in heat loads will be felt.
