A police officer was lightly injured after a motorcyclist ran him over during an attempt to evade a police check in the Pardes Snir neighborhood of Lod. The suspect, a man in his 20s, was located and arrested near the Triangle cities. Following the conclusion of the investigation, a prosecutor's statement was submitted against him, and a severe indictment is expected to be filed in the coming days.

The Incident and Escape

The incident took place on the afternoon of October 6 during proactive operations by Lod police officers in the Pardes Snir neighborhood. The officers noticed a motorcyclist and asked him to stop for an inspection, but the rider allegedly attempted to flee the scene.

During the escape attempt, the rider struck one of the officers and ran him over. Instead of stopping to assist the injured officer, the suspect continued driving and fled the area. The officer sustained light injuries and was evacuated for medical treatment.

Manhunt and Arrest

Following the hit-and-run, large forces from the Central District and Border Police were dispatched to the scene, launching a wide manhunt. Operational and intelligence assets were deployed, expanding the searches outside the city limits of Lod.

Several hours later, the forces tracked down the suspect near the Triangle cities. He was arrested and transferred for interrogation at the Lod station. Over the past two weeks, his remand was extended periodically while investigators gathered evidence.

Legal Proceedings

On Tuesday, with the conclusion of the investigation, the Central District Prosecutor's Office submitted a prosecutor's statement ahead of filing a severe indictment against the suspect, alongside a request to keep him in detention until the end of legal proceedings.

Lod Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Meidad Lavie, addressed the incident, stating: > "Attacking police officers and public servants is crossing a red line that cannot be tolerated. I fully back the officers working for public safety and law enforcement. The officers of the Lod station will continue to perform their duties responsibly and resolutely."

Footage of the incident captures the moments of the officer being struck and the subsequent arrest of the suspect following the manhunt.
