A significant development has emerged in the murder case that shook Hollywood: a Los Angeles grand jury has indicted Nick Reiner, son of director and actor Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer and producer Michele Singer Reiner, for the murder of his parents. The indictment, filed on July 20 and kept under seal until today, includes two counts of murder and adds a new allegation that Nick Reiner lay in wait for his parents before attacking them.

Authorities state the two were stabbed to death, and Nick Reiner was arrested hours later. He had previously been charged with two counts of first-degree murder with special circumstances, including multiple murders and the use of a deadly weapon.

The decision to utilize a grand jury allowed the prosecution to bypass the preliminary hearing stage, where evidence is typically presented in public. Because the grand jury operates behind closed doors, few details have been made public. According to the AP, the indictment does not disclose the background or motives for the crime, but the allegation of lying in wait marks a significant step toward trial.

Rob Reiner, 78 at the time of his death, was one of Hollywood's most recognizable and influential figures. His wife, Michele Singer Reiner, was a photographer and producer. The couple had been married for over 35 years.
