Will it pass in the next Knesset? MK Boaz Bismuth: "The draft law is ready"

MK Boaz Bismuth addressed the judicial system's intervention in the draft law during an interview with the Open Studio, while also criticizing members of the coalition: "From my point of view, I have reached the final station; the law exists and is ready. It is a pity that for the sake of headlines, some have come out against the law," he said.

"Look today at Yair Golan, Gadi Eisenkot, Yoram Cohen, Yonat Shalev, and others—they are now saying everything I said along the way: 'It is impossible to draft everyone at once,' 'one must act gradually,' and 'gently'," explained Bismuth. According to him, the draft targets and the definition of punishment through sanctions established in the law were successful.

As recalled, after the Knesset approved the law, the Supreme Court froze its entry into force following petitions against it. Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara even asked the court to cancel the law, arguing that it effectively creates a mechanism of immunity from enforcement for yeshiva students required to be drafted, in parallel with her demand to intensify enforcement against ultra-Orthodox deserters.
