Music history, collecting, and huge sums enter one arena: music lovers and collectors are preparing for one of the most intriguing events of the year, where rare items belonging to one of the world's greatest music legends will be auctioned off.

A Yamaha C3 grand piano and the personal studio microphone (AKG C414 EB) of Queen lead singer Freddie Mercury will be auctioned on October 1 and 2 by the auction house Propstore. The sale is based on the private collection of music producer Reinhold Mack and donations from his son, Freddie Jr., who was Mercury's only godson. A total of 82 rare items will be offered at the auction, reflecting the work processes of the great singer in the studio and his creative period in the 80s.

The legendary piano is one of the central items at the heart of the sale, as it was used by the singer in some of the peak moments of his career, and its estimated price is between $270,000 and $545,000. The studio microphone used for his vocal recordings is also for sale, with its price estimated at $55,000 to $110,000. The microphone comes with the original case and the red XLR cable from the studio.

In addition to the iconic items, early handwritten drafts for the songs "My Love Is Dangerous" and "Let’s Turn It On" from his solo album "Mr. Bad Guy" (1985) will be offered for sale, estimated at thousands of dollars. Also appearing will be more intimate items, such as a teddy bear that Mercury gave as a gift, valued at $1,000 to $2,100.

As a reminder, sales of collectibles are nothing new. Just recently, it was announced that the jersey worn by Michael Jordan in game number 3 of the 1998 NBA Finals series is going up for auction on September 15. Also, an Argentina national team shirt with the personal signature of Lionel Messi went on sale at the Christie's auction house last July.
