New Nahal Modi'im Bridge Opens to Traffic in Binyamin
Traffic has been diverted to the new Nahal Modi'im bridge with two lanes open in each direction, replacing the temporary bypass. The project is a key milestone in the ongoing expansion of Highway 446.
A significant milestone has been reached in the project to expand Highway 446 in western Binyamin: traffic has been diverted to the new Nahal Modi'im bridge and opened in a two-lane format in each direction. At the same time, the temporary traffic bypass that operated at the site during the construction period has been cancelled.
The diversion of traffic to the new bridge marks a key stage in the progress of the project, which is intended to significantly improve traffic flow and the safety of the residents of western Binyamin and the tens of thousands of drivers who use the route daily.
Work on Highway 446 continues, and upon its completion, three lanes in each direction are expected to open from Modi'in Illit to the Shilat junction. Later, the transformation of the Shilat junction into an interchange is also planned, as part of the transport revolution being promoted in recent years in Binyamin.
Head of the Binyamin Regional Council and Chairman of the Yesha Council, Israel Gantz, said:
