Refusing to retire: Sergio Llull to play 20th season for Real Madrid
The 38-year-old captain has extended his contract through 2027, continuing to build on his record of appearances for the club, with which he has already won 29 titles. Meanwhile, Olimpia Milano has signed Moses Wright.
Sergio Llull continues to write his historic chapter at Real Madrid. The Spanish club announced today that the 38-year-old captain has extended his contract for another season, through the end of the 2026/27 campaign, marking his 20th consecutive season in the Los Blancos uniform.
Llull arrived at Real Madrid in 2007 and has since become one of the greatest icons in the club's history. During his long tenure in the Spanish capital, he has secured 29 titles, including three EuroLeague championships, nine Spanish league titles, seven Copa del Rey trophies, nine Spanish Supercup wins, and one Intercontinental Cup. The veteran guard also holds the all-time record for appearances for Real Madrid, having worn the team's jersey in 1,249 games.
In the most recent EuroLeague season, he averaged 3.5 points, 1.6 assists, and 0.8 rebounds in 11.6 minutes over 34 appearances. In the Spanish league, he contributed 6.9 points, 2.4 assists, and 1.3 rebounds in nearly 17 minutes per game.
At the same time, Olimpia Milano announced the signing of Moses Wright to a multi-year contract. The American center arrives following a breakout season at Zalgiris Kaunas, where he established himself as one of the most prominent frontcourt players in the EuroLeague.
"I am excited for the next chapter. I am already looking forward to meeting the Olimpia fans and playing in Milan. It is an amazing city with great culture, and I am eager to start working for the club. Together, we can do something special this season," said Wright after the signing.
The move to Milan came after Wright had reached an agreement in principle with Barcelona and had personally confirmed his intention to join the Catalan side. According to reports from Greece, his contract included a 900,000-euro buyout clause, a sum Milan is expected to pay to finalize the deal. Wright had planned to leave Zalgiris for Barcelona since March, but ultimately changed course and signed in Italy.
