Oscar Gloukh thrills Ajax: "The best on the team"

Oscar Gloukh continues to impress in the Ajax kit, and after a wonderful start to the 2026/2027 season, he is receiving huge compliments in the Dutch media. In a podcast by the Dutch football magazine VI, the abilities of the Israeli midfielder were discussed at length, and he was even defined as one of the most prominent players on the team.

"Gloukh is probably the best footballer currently on the team. Last season he still couldn't show everything he has, but now we see that he is a tremendous footballer. When Gloukh feels comfortable, he brings his abilities to fruition, and he has special qualities."

The compliments came after Gloukh scored four goals in the two matches against Vojvodina in the Conference League qualifiers, including a hat-trick in the second game. In the Netherlands, they analyzed the changes the Israeli player has undergone and the adjustments made for him at the club.

"Last season he couldn't show what he knows, but now he has stability and a permanent framework," they said on the podcast. "He had a year to adapt, and he has a role in the game system that suits him perfectly."

According to the podcast participants, one of the main changes is the emphasis on Gloukh's movement towards the box: "They are working with him on entering the box, on movement and its timing. He understands much better when he needs to enter the dangerous area."

In addition, they noted that the tactical change allows Gloukh to invest more energy in attacking: "He looks in better shape, they are easing the defensive requirements for him, and therefore he has more energy on the other side of the pitch."

Finally, they added in the Netherlands that Gloukh currently plays with more confidence and takes more risks: "He knows he has a very high-quality shot. He had evenings where everything clicked and everything went in."
