Ortal Amar on the recording scandal: "Your father is bad and your mother is good"

Years after the scandal involving Ben-El Tavori's recordings shook the country, the repercussions are still seeping into private life, and this time the price directly affects their common son, Tav. In an interview, Ortal Amar tells of the difficult moments when the child was exposed to the harsh content from the recordings, the coping in school, and her desperate attempt to protect him from the complex truth.

The voice message affair, which was published about four years ago, included harsh and blunt statements by Tavori directed at Amar and at Tav himself. While at that time Tav was too young to understand the magnitude of the storm, today, as he is older and surrounded by a social environment, the exposure has become inevitable. Amar admits that this exposure is the "fear of her life," and tells of the moment when the recordings reached the school directly.

Amar told how children at school made a circle around him and began to quote to him parts from Ben-El's voice messages. "He did not understand what they were saying to him," she recalls. She added and described another painful incident that occurred on the street, in which a girl from the neighborhood shouted at him, "Your father is bad and your mother is good." Amar, who tried with all her might to soften the blow, replied, "Maybe she got confused."

Today, the daily coping with mediating this reality to a small child requires immense mental strength from Amar. She understands that as Tav grows, the encounter with the remnants of the past and the documentation on the web will only deepen.

"It is very difficult to mediate this and deal with this. And he will probably also, unfortunately, encounter this," concluded Amar with pain, as she tries to maintain her son's privacy as much as possible and not add more fuel to the fire of publicity.
