Former soccer player Omri Kanda revealed his complex financial situation and the difficult routine he manages today, as part of his participation in the show "Power Couple" alongside his wife, Dorin.
Kanda, who played in the Premier League in the past and was known primarily for his time as a soccer player, said that alongside his work on a podcast, stand-up performances, and lectures, he also works at night as a courier to deal with the many expenses and to pay off debts and obligations.
During the episode that will air tonight (Wednesday) on Reshet 13, his wife Dorin spoke about the difficulty of seeing him work at night. "My dream is for you to stop working at night, because you have no day and no night," she said.
Kanda explained that the economic reality forces him to continue working in several places:
"We wanted to move to a new rented house, I have alimony, tons of expenses for the house, and also for my past mistakes. I don't blame anyone, I know that I made them. And I also need to pay back my parents, I owe my parents a lot."
According to him, the night work includes delivering goods to hotels and cafes, and sometimes the long hours affect his rest. "I have a podcast at eight in the morning and I finish working at seven in the morning the next day, I sleep in the car," he revealed.
Kanda added that although people on the outside see the change he has undergone in recent years and think he has succeeded financially, the reality is more complex. "People recognize me and say, 'How wonderful, you reinvented yourself and you must be making tons of money,' and I am sleeping in the car," he said.
In recent years, Kanda has previously spoken about dealing with debts following his involvement in gambling, after it was revealed at the beginning of the last decade that he had become entangled in an affair where he was subject to extortion by criminal elements. In 2015, he retired from soccer, and later participated in the show "Goalstar," during which he suffered a significant medical incident.
