Ofer Levi: "They wanted to pay me 350,000 shekels a day, I refused"
Singer Ofer Levi was a guest on Sharon Gal's podcast and spoke about the dramatic decision he made following a process of strengthening his faith and returning to religion, as well as his unconditional support for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Ofer Levi is considered one of the pioneers of Turkish and Arabic music and the king of the Mediterranean genre in Israel since the late 80s. The singer broke into the public consciousness in 1988 with his first album, "Ha-Kalfan" ("The Gambler"). Among his well-known songs are: "Ahavah Amitit" ("True Love"), "Yom Ha-Rovakim" ("Bachelors' Day"), "Ani Ve-At" ("Me and You"), and "Meohav Ba-Geshem" ("In Love with the Rain").
Levi was a guest on the podcast "Ha-Salon Shel Sharon" ("Sharon's Salon"), hosted by media personality Sharon Gal, and spoke about the magnificent career he built over the years, his political positions, and his decision to refuse a huge sum of money following an offer to perform on Shabbat.
During the interview, Ofer Levi shared that he supports Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and claimed that only he can ensure a better future for the State of Israel and its citizens:
"Great Netanyahu. Benjamin, son of the right. Natan-Yahu, look at the name he has... Levi, son of Tzila. I bless him from here, I love him, I appreciate him, I support him, I admire him. Netanyahu is my life. I just don't agree with those who criticize him. Are you going to court? Are you being called to hearings? Who exactly?"
Ofer Levi, who is in a process of strengthening his faith and returning to religion, revealed that he had to give up a huge sum of money following an offer to perform on Shabbat: "They wanted to pay me 350,000 shekels a day. It fell through because of Shabbat." Parallel to the conversation he held with Sharon Gal, Levi turned to the Creator with a sharp and clear message: "I love You. Do me a favor, watch over me and bring me to full repentance. Do not let me fall."
As is known, Ofer Levi has been married several times and has two daughters. He is the uncle of singer and actress Lihi Toledano, the daughter of his sister Hagit and singer Avi Toledano. In recent years, he has collaborated with well-known artists, including Eden Ben Zaken and Hanan Ben Ari. In 2023, he released the duet "Miklat Batuach" ("Safe Shelter") together with Ben Zaken. Two years later, the duet "Ha-Yom Kamti Sameach" ("Today I Woke Up Happy") was released with Hanan Ben Ari.
