Ofek Adanek faces performance cancellations amid criminal investigation
Following a criminal investigation and suspicions of violence against his partner, local authorities in Israel have decided to cancel performances by the popular artist Ofek Adanek.
The legal troubles of well-known singer Ofek Adanek are taking a heavy professional toll, as local authorities rush to cancel his participation in major summer events.
The Tirat Carmel municipality announced the cancellation of the dancehall singer's planned performance at an end-of-summer event for teenagers, a move that follows a similar decision by the Dimona municipality. In its statement, the Tirat Carmel municipality clarified that officials chose to act with extreme caution and responsibility toward the young audience, deciding to replace him with other artists, including Avi Abromi and Nadav Hantzis.
The turmoil in Adanek's career follows a criminal investigation opened against him and his partner, Hadas Masori, after he was arrested over the weekend on suspicion of violent offenses. The two were filmed during a heated street argument, and Adanek was subsequently placed under house arrest for five days. According to those close to the couple, the dispute was triggered by the singer's suspicion that his partner was allegedly unfaithful with her ex-boyfriend.
The singer has denied all allegations, emphasizing that he has never acted violently. However, public pressure and the ongoing suspicions have swayed municipal decision-makers. Conversely, organizers of non-municipal events, such as the Black Music Festival at the Jaffa Port, have chosen to proceed with his scheduled appearance.
