"We will bring a message of unity to the people of Israel": The new addition to Erdan's party

Reserve Colonel Hezi Nechama, one of the leaders of the Forum of Commanders and Fighters in the Reserves and one of the authors of the "Generals' Plan" to defeat Hamas, announced on Sunday his joining the "Unity" party led by Gilad Erdan.

Nechama, a father of eight and a resident of the settlement of Eli in Binyamin, served hundreds of reserve days during the recent war. He served as Chief of Staff of the 261st Reserve Brigade of the IDF Training Base 1 and as commander of the reserve officers' course.

During the war, Nechama was suspended from reserve duty after he sharply criticized the management of the war and the lack of decisive action. During his service in the IDF, he served as a fighter in Sayeret Matkal, as a commander in the Maglan unit, as commander of the Givati reconnaissance unit, as commander of the officers' course, and as commander of the Menashe and Alexandroni brigades.

About a year ago, Nechama neutralized a terrorist who carried out a car-ramming attack near the Al-Khader junction on Highway 60.

Unity party chairman Gilad Erdan welcomed Nechama's joining the party:

Hezi is one of the leaders of the concept of decisiveness and striving for victory, which constitutes an alternative to the containment conception. Hezi represents hundreds of thousands of reserve soldiers who left behind family and businesses to protect the State of Israel. Dear Hezi, welcome."

Nechama himself stated his goals upon joining the party:

"The Unity party represents the values for which I have fought in recent years. I intend to promote a right-wing security concept, which means abandoning the containment conception and achieving victory on the battlefield. This is alongside the critical need to legislate a service law for all citizens and filling the ranks in the IDF, so that we can meet the enormous challenges facing us. This can only be done in a broad Zionist government that will bring a message of unity to the people of Israel."

"I thank party chairman Gilad Erdan for the trust, and I am happy to join the excellent team that is already standing by his side. With God's help, we will succeed," he added.
