The famous London townhouse featured in the 1999 romantic comedy Notting Hill, starring Hugh Grant, has been listed for sale at $10 million. Known for its iconic blue front door that served as the entrance to Grant's character's home, the property carries profound cinematic history. Josh Ratcliffe of Sotheby's United Kingdom told Mansion Global that the residence is instantly recognized by passersby as a true landmark of the Notting Hill neighborhood. The door is famously remembered from a scene where Grant's quirky roommate is locked outside in his underwear while surrounded by paparazzi.

Beyond its cinematic facade, the property was once owned by screenwriter Richard Curtis, who penned Notting Hill alongside other hits like Four Weddings and a Funeral and Bridget Jones's Diary. Curtis acquired the building in 1993 when it was still a Baptist chapel and converted it into a residential home. Sotheby's noted that the film's production designer selected the exterior purely for its aesthetic appeal, unaware that it belonged to the screenwriter. Curtis and his partner, Emma Freud, sold the property shortly after the film's theatrical release. The original 19th-century blue door was later auctioned off for £5,750, with proceeds donated to charity. The current owner, a technology entrepreneur, purchased the residence in 2014.

While the exterior is globally recognized, the interior offers a distinct architectural layout, retaining traces of its chapel origins with a sprawling open-plan living space, dining area, and kitchen featuring vaulted ceilings, stained-glass windows, and skylights. Spanning 255 square meters, the three-bedroom, two-bathroom home also includes a study with a mezzanine level, a spiral staircase leading to a roof terrace, and an internal courtyard with a vegetable garden. The primary bedroom boasts a fireplace, a spacious wardrobe, and an en-suite bathroom equipped with dual sinks, a bathtub, and a shower. Ratcliffe emphasized that properties offering such expansive volumes and striking architectural presence in central London are exceedingly rare.
