Ninet Tayeb on Divorce: "The Hardest Decision I Have Ever Made"

Two years after divorcing Yossi Mizrahi, Ninet Tayeb reflects on the complex moments of her life without attempting to soften the process she endured. In a candid interview, she describes the ongoing challenges, the personal processing of the family breakdown, and how that pain became a central part of her identity and music. For her, leaving the marriage was not merely a physical separation, but a deep mental struggle that remains present in her daily life.
When referring to the move itself, Ninet defines the separation as one of the most shaking moments she has ever experienced.
"It is the hardest decision I have ever made in my life," she told Danny Kushmaro on 'Ulpan Shishi'.
She explains that the greatest lesson learned from this experience concerns the readiness to remain within the difficulty instead of seeking an escape: "If there is something I have learned, it is not to run away from pain. Our natural instinct is to run away from pain."
This struggle did not remain behind closed doors; it directly fueled her new creative work. The endless questions and thoughts that accompanied the post-separation period were translated into the songs of her new album. Ninet describes how the search for answers became part of the lyrics: "Maybe I could have done differently, maybe I could have said differently... All these thoughts, which commit hara-kiri in the soul, are actually these songs. This album is a personal document of what I went through, so I could not have written anything else."
At 42, the crossroads where she stands today brings with it a completely different set of priorities than those that accompanied her at the beginning of her professional path. Alongside her musical work and performances, her perception of achievement has undergone a significant change, with the focus shifting to her family life and raising her daughters. "When you grow up, you understand that succeeding in what you do is amazing and important," she concludes, "but the real success in my eyes is to see your daughters growing up and becoming good, sensitive, and loving people."
