Ronen and Orna Neutra, parents of the late Staff Sgt. Omer Neutra, who was murdered on October 7, delivered an emotional speech at the Republican Party conference in Dallas, Texas. The parents expressed their gratitude to U.S. President Donald Trump for his efforts to secure the release of hostages from Gaza and called for ensuring that those responsible for the October 7 massacre can never carry out a similar attack.
"Thank you, President Trump, for placing the hostages and detainees at the top of the priority list, for not relenting, and for bringing everyone home," Ronen stated. He noted that his son Omer was a proud American born in New York, a grandson of Holocaust survivors, who enlisted in the IDF out of a profound sense of mission. Omer served as a tank commander on the Gaza border and fought to defend Israeli communities before being killed and abducted on October 7.
"President Trump kept his promise. All the hostages returned home, both the living and the fallen," Orna Neutra said during the address.
Bringing the Fallen Home and Ensuring Security
Orna emphasized that Trump understood the mission involved returning both the living and the deceased so families could bury their loved ones with dignity. After 757 days, their son's remains were returned, allowing the family to lay him to rest. She stressed that bringing everyone home is only part of the mission, urging the international community to ensure that the forces behind the October 7 atrocities are permanently neutralized.
Concluding the address ahead of the anniversary of the September 11 attacks, Orna drew parallels between the tragedies and called for moral clarity. She wished attendees a Happy New Year, praying for the courage to distinguish between those who protect life and those who destroy it.
