Netanyahu exposes his son Yair before the cameras: 'They wounded his soul'
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has broken his silence to discuss the hardships his family has endured. He recounted the childhood trauma inflicted upon his son Yair and the shocking refusal of the Council for the Child's Rights to intervene.
These days, the Netanyahu family is at the center of a legal storm following the testimony of a former employee at the Prime Minister's residence against Sara Netanyahu. Against the backdrop of the serious allegations presented in the lawsuit filed by that employee to the Regional Labor Court in Jerusalem against the Prime Minister's Office, Benjamin Netanyahu was a guest on the "Shomer HaSaf" ("Guardian of the Threshold") podcast hosted by Gadi Taub and spoke about the relentless attacks against his family and his son Yair.
"When he was in kindergarten, they made a parody of him, do you remember 'HaHartzufim'? That show? They made a parody of a five-year-old child. He hid under the table for a week in kindergarten. He was clearly hurt by it," said the Prime Minister.
"When they hurt this young child, and wounded his soul, they asked the head of the Council for the Child's Rights, 'Why don't you protect Netanyahu?' - he replied, 'Netanyahu's son is not worthy of protection'."
Continuing his remarks, Netanyahu noted that his sons face many difficulties due to their family lineage. Alongside this, the Prime Minister shared a conversation that journalists had with the chairman of the Council for the Child's Rights regarding the media event that hurt his son Yair. Netanyahu shared that he was disappointed by the answer of that official whose duty it was to condemn the production of the television show "HaHartzufim".
"The children, Avner too, both say that it is not easy to be the son of the Prime Minister. I assume that is true, but it is not easy to be the son of a right-wing Prime Minister whose name is Benjamin Netanyahu. When they hurt this young child, five years old, they wounded his soul. There is a Council for the Child's Rights, the one who stood at its head was asked: 'Why don't you protect Netanyahu? Why don't you come out against this show that did something that should not be done?' He said: 'Netanyahu's son is not worthy of protection'."
In conclusion, Prime Minister Netanyahu said that he used to support his 5-year-old son during that complex period and addressed how his family members cope with the Israeli media and his political opponents: "I hug him, I try to comfort him, but the truth is that they are making a huge sacrifice."
