Netanya Woman Indicted in Dating App Fraud and Theft Scheme
Central District prosecutors filed a 16-count indictment against a Netanya resident accused of conning men via dating apps, stealing credit cards, and purchasing jewelry with forged checks.
The Central District Prosecutor's Office filed a 16-count indictment against a resident of Netanya suspected of meeting men through dating apps and social networks, gaining their trust, and subsequently taking checks, credit cards, and property. The woman faces charges of theft, obtaining property by fraud, forgery, and using a forged document.
The investigation by Netanya police station officers in the Central District was launched following several complaints received against the suspect. According to the indictment, she would meet with the men and, after establishing contact and trust, take payment methods and property from them, including gold jewelry, and use them for transactions and purchases.
The investigation also revealed that in some cases, the woman contacted citizens who posted jewelry and products for sale on social networks. According to the suspicion, she met with them across the country, purchased the products, and paid using checks or payment methods previously taken from the men, while using forged documents and false pretenses. Among other things, gold jewelry worth tens of thousands of shekels was purchased in this manner.
With the progress of the investigation and the gathering of evidence, Netanya station detectives arrested the suspect. Her detention was extended from time to time in court, and upon completion of the investigation, the indictment was filed against her.
